Heart & Stroke Foundation

The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada is a non-profit organization made up of 130,000 volunteers, 13 million donors, and 10 independent provincial foundations.

Heart and stroke continues to be the leading cause of death in Canada. With no government funding, the Heart and Stroke Foundation relies on donations for research and local education programs for those suffering of this disease.

This is where Ironman comes in. Eleven years ago; the Ironman Outdoor Curling Bonspiel was started by Eric Dawson and Kevin Wiebe in efforts to raise money for this cause. Dawson’s father-in-law, who passed away after suffering a heart attack, inspired Dawson to plan an event to raise money for such a good cause.

The Heart and Stroke Foundation, along with their corporate partners such as Becel, Boston Pizza, and Pfizer, is committed through research to end this disease.
